Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of SafeDictate, a Chrome Extension provided by SafeDictate ("we", "us", or "our"). By installing or using the extension, you agree to these Terms.
1. License
SafeDictate grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the extension strictly in accordance with these Terms. You may not sublicense, sell, resell, transfer, assign, or otherwise commercially exploit the extension.
2. Free Tier
The Free tier provides access to core transcription functionality with usage limits as described on the pricing page. No payment information is required. We reserve the right to adjust free tier limits at any time with reasonable notice.
3. Pro Tier
The Pro tier is available as a monthly subscription ($1/month) or an annual subscription ($9/year), processed through Paddle, our payment processor and Merchant of Record. By purchasing, you also agree to Paddle's buyer terms.
Subscriptions renew automatically. You may cancel at any time using the management link in your Paddle order confirmation email, or by contacting support; access continues until the end of the current billing period.
Your Pro subscription is tied to the email you used at checkout and is for personal use on your own Chrome profile(s). Sharing or reselling access is not permitted and may result in cancellation without refund.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the extension.
- Use the extension to record or transcribe conversations without the knowledge of all parties where required by law.
- Attempt to bypass, disable, or circumvent any licensing or access control mechanism.
- Use the extension in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international laws.
5. Healthcare and Regulated Industries
SafeDictate is designed so that audio never leaves your device, which means it can be used in contexts where data privacy is critical (e.g., clinical notes). However, we make no warranty of regulatory compliance. It is your responsibility to determine whether and how SafeDictate meets the requirements of applicable regulations (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.) in your specific context. We do not provide Business Associate Agreements (BAAs).
6. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in and to the extension, including all intellectual property rights, are and remain the exclusive property of SafeDictate. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or branding.
The Whisper AI model is developed by OpenAI and used under the MIT License. ONNX Runtime is used under the MIT License. Both are used in unmodified form.
7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SAFEDICTATE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE EXTENSION, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
8. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to Pro features at any time if you violate these Terms, with or without notice. Upon termination, your license to use Pro features ceases immediately. Free tier functionality is not affected except in cases of severe misuse.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted with an updated effective date. Continued use of the extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator resides, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
